What we collect

When you create an account or sign in to a GeoLens instance operated by us (such as demo.getgeolens.com), we collect:

• Your name and email address, provided at sign-up or via OAuth.
• Standard server access logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp), retained for operational and security purposes.

The GeoLens software itself records no product analytics and sends nothing to us. The instance at demo.getgeolens.com runs the same released build you would self-host. Data you upload to the demo may be removed at any time, so please do not put anything sensitive there.

If you self-host GeoLens on your own infrastructure, this policy does not apply. You control all data collected by your instance.

Why we collect it

We use your name and email to:

• Identify your account and authenticate you.
• Respond to support requests you send us.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Website analytics

Our websites (getgeolens.com, docs.getgeolens.com) use two lightweight measurements:

• Cloudflare's cookieless Web Analytics performance beacon — aggregate page-traffic measurement with no cookies and no cross-site tracking.
• On getgeolens.com, first-party event counts cover clicks on the live-demo link, successful copies of the install command, Quickstart page views, and clicks on the newsletter Subscribe button. Each event uses a predefined name, and the event data has no cookies, identifiers, or per-visitor records.

These are the only analytics we run: no Google Analytics or advertising trackers. The hosted demo (demo.getgeolens.com) is served through Cloudflare but carries no analytics beacon at all.

Release notes list

If you subscribe to release notes on our website, submitting the form sends your email address to Buttondown, the newsletter service we use.

• It is held as a pending subscription until you confirm the double opt-in; unconfirmed entries expire without joining the list.
• Once confirmed, we use the address only to send release announcements — a few emails a year — and every email includes an unsubscribe link that removes you immediately.
• Nothing about the subscription is shared with anyone else or connected to the analytics described above. The only related measurement is an anonymous count of clicks on the Subscribe button, which records an attempt, not a confirmed subscription.

Data we do not collect

GeoLens does not include telemetry or analytics by default. The self-hosted software ships with no tracking and no call-home. Apart from the map tiles and fonts the default basemap loads from OpenFreeMap, it contacts third-party services only for integrations you configure. None of the website analytics described above exists in the GeoLens software itself.

Data retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
